No matter your thoughts on the process, recruitment is an ongoing and unavoidable challenge facing growing businesses today.
For some, an in-house HR team shall expertly navigate the workforce requirements of a larger business concern; for others, outsourcing is the answer and for the smaller companies facing what seems like a daunting process, well, they are thrown in at the deep end of the ever-changing recruitment pool.
Envious of the businesses who boast staff retention as one of their USPs, for some industries, this is really not an option, with a fluid workforce and staff using jobs as stopgaps en-route to their dream job.
Service industries, including the cleaning sector, do require skilled labour and at APM we are willing, ready and able to offer full training which would allow potential candidates to progress through the ranks, encouraging longevity and good, long term career prospects.
So why is it so difficult to recruit strong candidates who recognise the benefits of training, good pay rates, excellent conditions, prospects and a great working environment?
At APM we have gone through the time-consuming task of creating job specs, advertising, sifting through CVs and interviewing; only to be faced with a repeat of the exercise a month later.
Running a business already requires MD’s to be spread too thinly over all business areas, so at APM, we have hired (hopefully successfully!) a dedicated recruitment professional; investing the money into someone who knows the industry, knows the challenges and can hopefully make a success of the APM recruitment process and staff retention scheme.
Will it work? Watch this space, as we recruit cleaning staff, supervisors and ultimately a COO to oversee operations – a long-term goal and one vitally important role for growing to the next level.
At APM, we are passionate about securing just the right people for the positions, so if you feel you want to discuss any of our roles and the opportunities available, please do get in touch!
