Covering all areas of construction and refurbishment, our extensive portfolio ranges from school classrooms and laboratories to libraries, gyms and doctor’s surgeries, for which we carry all of the required qualifications and certifications required to carry out the necessary cleaning contracts.
Typically ranging from 1-5 times per annum, unique site cleans begin for us with an early morning induction on day 1 and carry on from 0800 – 1600 each day for the duration of the contract, when areas are appropriately locked and sealed for our work and the Site Manager approves our attendance.
Our experience covers all site sizes from small areas to expansive commercial buildings, such as Hadrian’s Tower, where we recently completed a Builders Clean, covering 26 floors over the tallest building in Newcastle.
Each part of every job has a satisfaction notice which requires signed off before our supervisors can complete on the job and the handover.
As with any other industry, not every contract is straightforward and at APM, we are experienced in dealing with a variety of issues which arise within this type of cleaning.
Recently, we were called in to clean (and rescue!) a school’s sports hall, where the floor had just been laid, and the electricians were still putting in the lighting rigs. During breaks, the contractors had short games of football, unaware that the soles of their shoes left rubber deposits every time a step was taken and when the foot is on an edge as when playing football, the rubber deposits are extensive.
They were unaware that this particular gym flooring takes 6 months to cure, so scrubbing machines can’t be used and the marks needed to be removed with specialist products by hand; a good example of why it is wise to employ the services of a specialist cleaning company, with vast experience and knowledge of wide-ranging build products.
Another job for a large building company, within one of their smaller housing developments, decorators had mistakenly masked up a painted concrete lintel and left the tape on, when it should have been removed within hours. As a consequence, when the tape was removed, all of the paint effect also came off. As soon as we recognised this damage, we contacted the Site Manager to assess and as the key handover was due to take place the next day, there was a bit of a rush to rectify the issue, as opposed to complete replacement which would take weeks and have a knock-on effect with regards builder’s penalties for late handover. Thankfully our hard surface repair technicians were onsite within 2 hours and invisibly repaired the damage to the complete satisfaction of the builder and the homeowner!
